3 Types of Font
Different fonts are used for various number of things, from notices to letters, the type of font is very important when trying to convey something. There are 3 main categories that all fonts fall under;
- Serif - this font looks like it has little 'feet or tails', the font Times is a good example of this. The font can be used for a number of things, however is seen as quite formal, and is often the default font on many programmes. It can be used to show professionalism and is very traditional. Many newspapers use this font.
- Sans - serif - this is the opposite of serif, a good example of this is Verdana. The most noticeable things being that it doesn't have any 'feet or tails' and the font of the text is also sans-serif. It is mainly used because of the clarity and is more modern than serif, consequently why it is used more in magazines.
- Handwriting - this font is unlike the previous two, Bradley Hand is an example of this. Handwriting font is used to make things more personal - like someone has written it. This is why it is often found in books if they are dedicated to someone.
